If you thought Miss Uganda beauty contest is a platform where beauty is only showcased in just pretty faces and well-arranged and built bodies, no you are wrong.
The truth is, Brenda Nayonjo, the brains behind the Miss Uganda Pageant with the help of her team, has made a point to prove it the more with talent and it has really worked well as showcased by the 2023 Miss Uganda contestants at the talent night held recently at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
The night featured all the 21 beauty queens with a blend of talents ranging from dance, drama, poetry, acrobats, magic and fashion showcases.
The girls were also supported by former Miss Uganda queens, Stella Nantubwe Ella, Bagaya and Namboga Priscila among others who kick started the event with exquisite modeling styles and they indeed got guests cheering for the such incredible moves.
Contestants Nalinda Debora and Serwaga Jesca, did justice to the piano, giving gospel music a great touch as she played with the different keys to tackle any song the audience cared to dare her do. Hannah Tumukunde demonstrated hers by presenting news and really did it incredibly well, right on point.
Jerusha Muwanguzi nailed hers with Magic, a one Nashua Patience, living with disability proved a point through dancing, citing that,“Most people out there think deaf people can’t dance but no, it’s not true, we too dance very, “she said.
Others went on showcasing how Ugandans and African domestic workers are mistreated in Asian countries. Bella did a fashion showcase she told guests was inspired by Wakanda African movie, Esther showcased the evils young people go through mostly girl child, they want better life and eventually do harm to themselves by following bad groups and end up in prostitution among others.
Namutebi Darlin did Baganda cultural dance, the house broke into a serious party when Acholi dance music was played as Northern Uganda guests who had come to support their contestant, danced to the tune without mercy, Desire reigning Uganda North backed it with a black African poem. Cautioned young girls who deviate from their cultures to follow western culture and end up bleaching to attain a different color among others.
Emaali teso folk song got Iteso jubilating, never wanting to be overpowered by other tribes as Prima Agwang contestant number 21 danced to it and later on joined by the Iteso guests who had turned up for the night.
Clad in Black tops and black pants, the event came to a close with incredible dance moves from all the contestants with each showcasing their best moves.
Nanyonjo thanked the guests for their support and congratulated and encouraged the contestants for really nailing it right to the theme, “Beauty beyond looks.”
Miss Uganda reality show Airs on Makula TV every Friday at 8:50 PM and on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 PM, the Television show named “Journey to the crown,” the show is featuring activities in the boot camp and will go all the way to the grand crowning of the most beautiful woman in Uganda.
