Uganda’s leading private Victoria University Kampala, will this weekend host a special weekend soccer bonanza dubbed “Friends of Victoria University” as it continues to extend the essence of higher education to the general public.

The Capital Times have learnt that VU’s soccer bonanza will take place this weekend on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Kampala Parents School playgrounds between the VU community and the stakeholders in the entertainment industry.

This website have further learnt that there will be two matches played, the first between Victoria University Professors captained by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, against the entertainment team captained by Urban TV’s Miles Rwamiti.

The entertainment squad will also feature Comedian Alex Muhangi as its lead striker and musician Gravity Omutujju as the goalkeeper among other notable celebrities and media personalities.

The second match of the day shall feature the VU staff and students in a combined squad taking on another team from the media fraternity that will include journalists, artistes, comedians, bloggers, and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry.

All matches will be officiated by a designated Referee assigned by FUFA and you won’t surely afford to miss this.

Victoria University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga has since urged the soccer fans, friends of Victoria University, and the general public to embrace the event as it is a free and open event happening from 10 am to 4:00 pm at Kampala parents – Naguru, a Kampala suburb.

Muganga explained that the soccer bonanza is a move aimed at bringing the message of higher education closer to the media fraternity and the general public, who he says are the real consumers of the service

With a truly national and increasingly international student body, Victoria University fosters an environment in which every one, as well as everyone’s opinions, are both welcomed and nurtured. A fulfilling student social life is considered an essential part of the University experience. One of the best ways to build student social circles is to participate in the many on-campus activities, and an outdoor soccer event is surely one of them.
