All roads will be leading to Uganda’s number one tourist city; Fort Portal, as the population gets ready for the upcoming biggest cultural tourism festival.
Dubbed ‘Ekyooto Ha Mpango,’ the cultural festival will be happening from September 13-14th at the Tooro Kingdom Palace located at the heart of Fort Portal City in Western Uganda.
While announcing the dates, Honourable Joan Kantu Else Adyeeri, Minister of Tourism for the Tooro Kingdom explained that the festival is a great opportunity to showcase and promote Uganda’s cultural heritage and unique identity.
“This festival not only celebrates our unique cultural identity but also promotes tourism and community engagement. We invite everyone to join us in Fort Portal Tourism City for a truly memorable experience.”
The festival aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the cultural and natural heritage of the region while providing a platform for local artists, performers, and sports enthusiasts to showcase their talents. It serves as a crucial avenue for cultural exchange and economic development by attracting tourists and spotlighting the rich traditions of the Tooro Kingdom.
Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, expressed enthusiasm about the festival’s return, saying, “We are excited to bring the ‘Ekyooto Ha Mpango’ Cultural Tourism Festival back this year with an even more diverse and engaging line up of events.”
This year’s festival will feature a wide range of activities including among other;
Music Festival: Showcasing local and regional musical talents.
Cultural and Fashion Gala: Highlighting traditional attire and contemporary fashion influenced by cultural heritage.
Sporting Events: Including local sports that are integral to the community.
Tourism Excursions: Offering guided tours to explore the natural beauty and historical sites of Fort Portal and its surroundings.
