The world-renowned Nyege Nyege Festival is thrilled to announce its landmark 10th anniversary edition, taking place from November 20–23, 2025, at the breathtaking Kalagala Falls in Kangulumira, Uganda.
Set against a backdrop of 40 acres of pristine riverside wilderness, this year’s festival is themed Ekyigunda Ky’omuliro, The Gathering of the Flame, symbolizing unity, culture, and the enduring spirit of celebration.
Over four unforgettable days, festival goers will immerse themselves in an extraordinary experience featuring five dynamic stages and 300 acts that span a diverse array of genres including electronic, hip hop, dancehall, amapiano, afrobeats, live bands, and traditional sounds from across Africa and beyond.
In tandem with this vibrant celebration, the Kwetu Kwanza Fashion Festival returns for its sixth annual edition as East Africa’s leading platform for circular and regenerative fashion. Founded by the fashion label IGC Fashion, which is committed to advancing indigenous fashion in Uganda, Kwetu Kwanza means “Ours First” in Swahili, embodying the belief that the planet must come first.Best fashion retailers
This festival will host a diverse array of designers, filmmakers, performers, artists, and cultural practitioners, all dedicated to interrogating the ethics, origins, and impacts of what we wear. It serves as a countercurrent to extractive systems, challenging narrow definitions of sustainability that often overlook the African experience and history of sustainable fashion.
For the first time, Kwetu Kwanza will take place on-site at the Nyege Nyege Festival, marking a significant step forward in a partnership that began last year in Jinja in the City. This convergence between two major cultural platforms aims to reach new audiences and create tangible connections among music, fashion, dance, and theatre.Portable speakers and best fashion retailers.
In African traditions, these art forms have always been intertwined, and through innovative collaborations between designers, musicians, and the textile and audio fields, developed within artist residencies hosted at Nyege Villa and the IGC Fashion Residency, this partnership signals an important shift in the region’s creative landscape.Online art courses
Kwetu Kwanza’s 6th edition at Nyege Nyge with the theme “What Can Emerge from Collapse?” invites reflection on creative rebirth in times of breakdown. Just as Nyege Nyege’s underground music scene thrives by transforming raw chaos into new rhythms, Kwetu Kwanza’s designers, artists, practitioners, and filmmakers will reimagine collapse as a fertile ground for creation.
The breakdown of fast-fashion systems mirrors wider environmental and social crises, yet within this disintegration lies the potential for renewal, where forgotten fabrics, discarded materials, and neglected traditions become the seeds of innovation.Portable speakers
