Pearl Bank (formerly PostBank) has had a remarkable 2025, following a series of commendable achievements, with the most recent being theBanking Services General Banking Accolade at the 2025Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards held at Hotel Africana on 5th November 2025 under the theme: Sustainability Practices and Reporting in Uncertain Global Times.
Introduced in 2011, by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), together with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE), the Awards have over the years, sought to recognize entities that showcase best practices in financial reporting, whilst promoting and institutionalizing transparency, integrity, and accountability in the corporate reporting process.
FiRe awards also aim to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda by encouraging the implementation of financial reporting standards and other best practices in corporate reporting.
Commenting on the Bank’s win, Peter Ssenyange, the Chief Financial Officer at Pearl Bank, mentioned that the FiReawards not only challenge institutions to give an overview of the organization’s performance but also provide a platform where industry peers can benchmark with one another to uphold industry standards when it comes to documenting financial reports.
He said, “Such engagements hold us accountable not only being advocates for best practices in financial reporting but practicing these in our day-to-day operations, which ultimately enables us to showcase the organization’s performance, and any other information that may be critical for the shareholders and all stakeholders who play a central role in the organization’s growth.”
Ssenyange appreciated the Bank’s management, the finance team, and all their stakeholders for the support extended, which has contributed to the great recognition.
CPA Timothy David Ediomu, ICPAU President, mentioned that learning institutions play an incredible role in the development of professional accountants, and as we reward excellence in financial reporting, we know that the foundations must be strong for us to realise the desired transformation in the financial and business reporting landscape.
“Since their inception in 2011, the FiRe Awards have served a clear and noble purpose, which is to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda. The Awards encourage organisations to go beyond compliance, to tell their stories holistically, and to demonstrate how their financial decisions align with broader societal goals.” Ediomuremarked.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, congratulated all the winners and commended the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, together with the Capital Markets Authority and the Uganda Securities Exchange, for spearheading the awards that seek to celebrate and ensure that best practices for financial reporting are upheld.
