The deputy speaker of Parliament Hon. Among Anita has confirmed that her superior, Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has been unwell for the past two weeks.
In a tweet sent on Tuesday, she said that medical experts at Mulago in consultation with personal doctors decided to refer him for further specialized medical attention out of the country.
“I wish to inform the Country that the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has been unwell for the last two weeks. During that period he was receiving medical attention from Mulago National Referral Hospital,” she tweeted
Adding “The Medical Experts at Mulago in consultation with his personal doctors, decided to refer him for further specialised medical attention out of the country. Subsequently on Friday, 4th February 2022, the Rt Hon. Oulanyah travelled out of the country. We pray for his speedy and complete recovery.”
Whereas details of his sickness are still scanty, it is reported that Oulanyah who last chaired a parliamentary sitting in November has been in an out of hospital for a long time.
This website has also learnt that he was transferred from Mulago to Nakasero hospital.
The development comes on the backdrop of President Museveni’s intervention directing that the speaker gets adequate treatment.
