When someone tells you Afrigo band is only for old people, no, it’s not; you actually ought to tell them to cut the crap and stop lying! Yes, it’s a total lie because the truth is; Afrigo is liked by all the groups of people and it’s still the best Uganda has ever had.

If one walked to Sheraton Hotel Gardens on Saturday August 5, 2023, they would feel soo special being in Uganda because there was a special moment happening, Legends of Sound Concert where Afrigo band was celebrating their extra-ordinary journey of 48 years in the music industry. Incredible! Right? Well it is worth the celebration.

The band attracted revelers from all walks of life, including the youth and the old and the elderly who all were seen having fun and fully entertained.

The show kicked off with performances from Mesach Semakula  who took on the stage at 7:40pm, Ragga Dee stepped on stage at 7:48pm with his dancers and did justice to his timeless hits including ‘Parliament,’ ‘Letter O’ and ‘Mbawe’among others.

Afrigo Band finally made their first stage appearance, welcomed by thunderous applause from the audience, as the band members took position of their respective instruments. The music lovers and the friends and supporters and fans of Afrigo band were treated to an incredible show, unmatched at such; there were multiple shots of fireworks fired!

The band did well on their songs including ‘Batuuse,’ ‘Afrigo,’ ‘Emmere Esiridde’ recorded in wayback in 1986.The band; the drums, the keyboard, the guitar, the flute, the all were good and on point.

Although there were some sound glitches, Talent Africa gave it their best and it will remain in the history of the music industry in Uganda as the best concert ever featuring only the legends in the industry. It was indeed an awesome night!

After performing for some minutes, the band faded for about 5minutes as the technical team fixed the sound, they got back with extra-ordinary performance of Teso’s folk song ‘Emaali’ originally composed by Mzee Atude that got all revelers on their feet, dancing to it. The band performed until 9:40pm before they could usher in their guest artist Awilo Longomba with his powerful hit ‘Coupé bibamba’ before he asked revelers,“are you okay? This is the first time for me to play with Afrigo, lets enjoy.”

Awilo did justice to ‘Moyen Te.’  “I came to just support Afrigo band and they told me to only play 2 songs because this is not my show, I am just a guest artist, “he said as he went ahead to perform ‘Karolina’ track off the Mondongo album released in 2013 and ‘Gâté le Coin’ track. At this particular moment of time, no one was spotted seated as revelers were not only cheering at Awilo but were also singing and dancing along with him until 10:02pm when he left stage to pave way for Eddy Yawe who stepped on stage at 10:05pm to give guests the best of his songs.

The highlight of the night was when Awilo joined Afrigo, performing and dancing to Afrigo’s  ‘Jim’ track. The singers would later on give up the stage for yet another legendary Joseph Mayanja alias Dr. Joe Chameleon who made his way to the stage at 11:48pm and did quite well on the show.  Chameleon took revelers down memory lane with his hits ‘Kuma Obwesigwa’ and ‘Wale Wale’ among others.

Everyone got a full dose of the concert, even when the band finally disbanded at exactly 11:55pm and faded and this time, for good, the guests were not surprised because they had had a great time with the band.
