Last Friday, as all roads led to Namboole for a game between Uganda and Botswana, that saw Uganda Cranes hinge Botswana 1:0, Journalist real name Emuk Benjamen commonly known as Benjie had top Airtel Uganda officials divert their way to the Kampala Sheraton Hotel as he was getting National recognition from Airtel Uganda as Most Outstanding personality in the journalism industry.

The event was held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

Out of the total of 10 top journalists Airtel recognized, Emuk topped the list as the Most Outstanding journalist, beating his colleagues black and blue.

Speaking at the event, Manoj Murali, Managing Director Airtel Uganda congratulated journalists for their excellent work.

Airtel Uganda Managing Director Manoj Murali speaking at the ceremony held Friday June 7 at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

“We at Airtel Uganda are very delighted to have such incredible journalists like you and we are what we are today because of your great works and dedication towards promoting and relying out our products and services to our customers. Outstanding individuals like Benjamen Emuk shouldn’t skip our hearts and this is the reason we honour you for your exceptional work.”

Airtel Uganda also recognized journalists including Nile Post’s Kenneth Kazibwe, PML Daily’s Javira Ssebwami, Sanyu FM’s Nkata Emmanuel Snr, UBC’s Sandra Kahunde and New Vision’s Ali Twaha among others.

David Birungi, Public Relations and Communications Manager at Airtel Uganda hailed Emuk Benjamen for his resourcefulness and ability to stand out from the rest, hence putting Airtel Uganda a head of his schedule and ensuring what gets out is what customers need to know.

“Benjamen is one person who can’t go home uncertain of the activity or product or service we launch, he goes an extra mile to get clearly what the product or service or even any other event we hold. We are talking about a person who will ask a thousand questions, complex ones yet very instrumental in informing our customers and the public out there.”

Birungi added, “Today, Airtel Uganda recognizes and celebrates Benjamen Emuk for his exceptional job, showcased in the longest time possible and it can’t go unnoticed. Let’s join hands as we all welcome Emuk Benjamen to pick his package and Benjamen, never at any point blink but rather continue doing your thing because we all know the fact that hard work pays!”

Acknowledging his recognition and reward, Benjamen Emuk said, “One thing about me is that I go for it, Rudimentary understanding is not my thing, I go deep and establish what I need my readers to know, not just for my sake but for the millions of people out there who look up to me to provide them with the right information regarding what I write or report. Surely, I am not that guy asking questions not loud to be heard or do my job just to be seen and not to be heard, rather I do the opposite, you can never see me coming, and with a lot of research and clear understanding of things, the questions just keep coming!”

Emuk added, “The walls indeed have ears, I have often times thought to myself I would have many accolades to my name because I really put in a lot to mostly interviews but look, no company has ever done that apart from Airtel, even when I know most of the people out there notice and appreciate my abilities.

Though some people think I am evasive in my ways but the truth is, I don’t let negativity or naysayers smite me down and not to mention the indiscretions in the media sector but hey I am no hayseed, wing-nut individual, all I do is keep waltzing! “
