It’s all systems go for music fans whose hearts pump for singing star Jose Chameleone ahead of his concert this weekend at Kampala Serena Hotel.
Chameleone will be headlining a show dubbed Legend In Gold which will celebrate the 25 years the singer has been releasing music.
Since 1999, the Mama Mia singer, real name Joseph Mayanja, has maintained legendary status in Uganda’s music arena, boasting of a unique voice, thrilling stage performance and being an inspiration and mentor for a big number of artistes. Chameleone, 45, is credited for pioneering the Afro Pop sound in Uganda at a time where the market was saturated with Soukous, Ragga and American RnB.
During a recent press conference, the award winning singer who has churned out 18 albums since 2000 (Bageya) said he felt the importance of celebrating his exploits adding that the banner ‘Legend In Gold’ under which his concert is running is symbolic of the fact that his music is a treasure that will last on.
He added that the concert won’t just be about fans coming to Serena Hotel to enjoy the VIP treat but rather a celebration of Ugandan music in a unique way.
The 2004 PAM Award Artiste of the Year winner who has a litany of hit songs under his name, has been running a campaign a social media where fans were asked to mention their favourite Chameleone song(s) to help him pick which songs to perform.
The concert which starts 6PM is billed at Shs200,000 at the gate but there is a 50,000 discount if you use Airtel Money by dialing *185#, choosing Option 9, and using Merchant Code 4371760 and for those seeking a VVIP treat, a table of 8 will part with Shs5 million.

Legend in Gold concert will be the 7th concert that Chameleone has held in the past 10 years, and the other 6 are Gwanga Mujje in September 2023, Legend Saba Saba in December 2018, Legend Hit After Hit in May 2017, Wale Wale Double Trouble in May 2015, Tubonge in March 2014, One Man One Million (charity concert) in December 2014.
