The Catholic Church led by His Excellency the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Augustine Kasujja (Belgium & Luxembourg) has called upon parents all-over Uganda to be on the lookout for schools which encourage cheating of examinations.
Kasujja while preaching at St Peters SS Naalya (SPENA) 25th anniversary celebrations (Silver Jubilee), said parents and guardians should be cognizant of such schools that teach children bad morals which according to him, only result into bad behavior and training them to be corrupt in whatever they do thereafter.
“There have been media reports where teachers have been arrested allegedly for cheating for their students. Instead of educating, imparting knowledge and encouraging good morals in our children, they are training them to be corrupt. I urge all parents to be vigilant and avoid taking their children to such schools implicated in examination malpractice among other bad behaviors.”

Kasujja added, “Such behavior erodes trust, undermines the value of education and creates a culture of dishonesty that can have lasting impacts on individuals and society,” Archbishop Kasujja said.
While officiating the ceremony, Mr. George Mutekanga, Assistant Commissioner in charge of Private Schools and Institutions at Ministry of Education and Sports acknowledged SPENA’s efforts geared towards quality education and nurturing of learners to become great future leaders with reputable legacies.
Mutekanga however, emphasized that there is a need for children to grow, knowing the foundation and background in which the schools have been founded. He added, saying, “We need also to advocate and encourage our schools to ensure they embrace the new curriculum and put emphasis on the teaching of foreign languages, ICT, entrepreneurship and Kiswahili among others.
