Bush Baby was more than a DJ. He was a cultural disruptor.Today, Uganda has lost a pillar of its entertainment industry.

Found lifeless in his studio in Entebbe this Thursday morning, DJ Bush Baby — born Michael Owori — has left a void that may never be filled. Police are treating this as a sudden death, and a postmortem is underway.

But what we do know is this:

Bush Baby was more than a DJ. He was a cultural disruptor.

From Capital FM in the 90s to Urban TV and UBC, Bush Baby was one of the few who didn’t just play the music — he made the music matter. He championed hip hop, R&B, and urban sounds when no one else dared to. He gave the youth a voice through rhythm and rhyme.

He mentored. He produced. He inspired. He built platforms when doors were shut. Bush Baby didn’t just break records — he broke barriers.

Today, Uganda has lost a pillar of its entertainment industry.

His influence will echo through every beat, every bar, every young DJ and artist he empowered. To the family, friends, and fans — our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Let us celebrate him the only way he would’ve wanted: with music, love, and unity. Rest in power, legend. Your name will forever live in the soundtracks of our lives!
