This September, Karuzika Palace will blaze with music, color, and culture as the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival marks the 30th coronation anniversary of His Majesty King Oyo of Toro Kingdom.
But this is more than a royal party. It’s a celebration of how one of Africa’s youngest monarchs has redefined kingship for a modern era — balancing tradition with innovation.
King Oyo: Tradition Meets Tomorrow
King Oyo is not only the guardian of Toro’s rich heritage, he’s also a forward-looking leader shaping the future of his people. From launching the King Oyo Model Farm in Kyenjojo — with dairy, coffee, mango, and fish enterprises — to empowering farmers with tractors and irrigation systems, his vision is clear: prosperity rooted in culture.
Yet, even as he embraces global ideas, King Oyo remains steadfast in preserving the soul of Toro — its music, dance, and customs. The Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival is the living proof of this balance: a space where ancestral traditions meet contemporary celebration.
