Nigerian Afro-pop  and contemporary R&B singer and songwriter real name Joseph Akinwale alias Joeboy, has urged young people in Uganda and Africa as whole to take up agriculture seriously as it not only brings money to their pockets but is the only way millions of people get food to feed on.

Speaking at the Media Challenge Initiative offices ahead of the Club Pilsner sponsored Lavida Rave Summer event slated for Saturday July 27, 2024 at Lugogo Hockey grounds, the Sip (Alcohol) hit maker revealed that he is not only a young music legend but also a young farmer.

The Warner Music Africa signed artist said the young people under look at practices like farming but it’s fun doing it and it goes far as feeding millions of people across the globe.

“If i wasn’t a singer, then i would be travelling and farming, farming can be boring to young people but the truth is, it’s one of the best things to do ever! Even if you don’t earn a lot from it, the population still benefits out of it because its food we are talking about here, everyone needs to eat to survive, so, basically, I love farming not only because i love seeing crops grow right from seedlings to mature plants and then eventually turn into food that feeds the population.”

The Young Legend Label boss also advised young people to go for their dreams no matter how big or far they have to go to achieve them as long as they are on the right track. Joeboy who was formerly signed by Mr Eazi under emPawa Africa, where he was discovered in 2017, through the emPawa Africa talent incubation program, also revealed how Uganda has shaped his musical career.

“By the way you guys have to know this, The first time I performed outside my country was in Uganda in 2019 and I had only 2 songs to my name but Ugandans still loved it and now, look, I come back 5 years after  with over 20 songs. Uganda is indeed part of the foundation to my musical career and just know it has all grown and great thanks to Uganda.”

Joeboy recalled performing his ‘Baby’ tune on stage repeatedly, lucky for him, not because he didn’t have enough songs but because his Ugandan revelers and fans kept on requesting for it again and again yet he only had 2 songs; ‘Beginning,’ ‘Baby, ’ and ‘Faaji.’ Now the singer prides in having lots of popular hits including ‘Sip’ (Alcohol), Focus, Low Key, Body and Soul among others.

On inspiration behind his magical tracks, The ‘Low Key’ soloist said, “My content creation has been out of my experiences and conversations with people, my family, my travel experience and God,” he said.

Joeboy told our reporter that he is delighted and proud to work with Ugandan artists on different projects including Joshia Baraka among others and he also disclosed having a new project with Fik Fameica, “I am going to link up with Fik Fameica again for collaboration.”

He concluded, “Ugandans love the vibe and I know it’s going to be a great vibe all the way at the Lavida Rave.”

The Lavida Rave Summer Experience promises to treat revelers and partiers to music, art, fashion, and entertainment. The event will feature an array of activities designed to create a vibrant experience for attendees. From epic DJ battles and singing competitions all the way to fashion shows and gaming zones among others.
