The Institute of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has announced its CPA Economic Forum 11th Edition slated for 19-21 July 2023 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe and online.
According to the organizers, this year’s forum will be running under the theme; National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development.’ A topical discussion hugely based on Uganda’s third National Development Plan (NDP III), a tool intended to drive and realize Uganda’s Vision 2040, a transformed Ugandan Society from a peasant to a modern and Prosperous Country within 30 years.
This year, the event will see different industry experts deliberate on over 8 topics including; Cooperative Societies as a Driver for Socio-Economic transformation; the role of Security in Nation building; Empowering Communities through Agricultural Value addition; Labour Exports: Socio-Economic Benefits and Challenges, Education Sector: Reforms in Curriculum, Uganda’s Oil and Gas Sector: Value Chain for Public Value, Hospital, Tourism Management, and Marketing Industrialization as a Driver for Self-Reliance.
The 3-day event is anticipated to attract over 1,000 attendees including high-profile dignitaries all the way from Tax Consultants, Economists, Policy Makers, Entrepreneurs, Investment Experts, Accountant, Government officials and Development enthusiasts among others. The key note address will be delivered by the Government Chief Whip, Dennis Hamson Obua.
According to CPA Ambrose Kariyo Mugisha, Head of Education and Training at ICPAU, Obua will provide undoubtedly valuable insights into Uganda’s development agenda.
While responding to Chimpreport’s Benjamen Emuk as to why the choice of the keynote speaker, CPA Mugisha stressed the fact that Obua is a knowledgeable and yet influential public figure and will with no doubt influence the event.
According to CPA Mugisha, Obua’s presence will with no doubt emphasize the significance of the CPA Economic Forum as a platform for influential figures to engage and trigger dialogue hinged on contributing to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
Mugisha also revealed that Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson, Brig. Felix Kulayigye, is among the presenters expected at the event and will give insights on one of the topics; Role of security in Nation Building.
“Brigadier Kulayigye’s expertise in security and nation building will provide a unique perspective on one of the key topics of discussion during the event,” Mugisha revealed.
The annual CPA Economic Forum will feature in-depth conversations and debates on the above-mentioned topics derived from Uganda’s third National Development Plan (NDP III).
It should be noted that some of the recommendations the institute proposed in 2022, were adapted by the government and are being implemented including restoration of cooperative societies and the merger of government agencies among others.
