Kabagarame – the weekly meat market located along the Mbarara-Ishaka road in Bushenyi District now back to Kampala for the second time running.
After a two-year hiatus, the Kabagarame Kampala Festival returned on Saturday 30th April – at the Uganda Museum, in partnership with Bell Lager – the official enjoyments beer.
The festival brought specially prepared meat recipes prepared and served in a traditional setting with locally sourced, farm-fresh, organic ingredients.

Speaking about the event, Owen Mwesigye, one of the festival’s founders, said, “The festival was developed to bring a cherished meal and reunion experience closer to the city’s people. Those who have been to Kabagarame you are now experiencing a home-away-from-home experience in Kampala.”
Meat lovers had a wide variety of choices to make whether they wanted of fried or roasted meat with special offers on Bell Lager.
It was a one lifetime experience as partiers crushed all the different kinds of meat as they chugged on beers all day-long and by evening fall, all the meat was done, a clear indication that it was indeed a success and promises to be the biggest foodie festival ever in the country.
Mpola Enjoyments as the name suggests is about having fun, but doing so in a chill, laid back way without all the pressure to be in a bar or a club.
The campaign encourages consumers that they can have a good time anytime, anywhere, as long as they have their friends around and have some good music, some nyama and of course, a cold Bell Lager.
Matilda Babuleka, Bell Lager’s brand manager, said, “Kabagarame is famous for its unmatched meat offerings, and we are proud to come on board to let the good times flow, as part of our purpose, and to prove that a cold Bell Lager is indeed the perfect companion for your muchomo or kikalayi.”
