Kansai Plascon Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to transforming lives through colour with a donation of paint worth Shs25 million to Naguru Reception Centre, a government-run child protection institution that houses and rehabilitates vulnerable infants and children. The initiative was undertaken in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kololo, Kampala, whose members have been longstanding sponsors and fundraisers for the centre.
The handover ceremony took place at Naguru Reception Centre and brought together key representatives from the reception centre, Kansai Plascon, the Rotary Club of Kololo.The Plascon team was led by Managing Director Mr. Santosh Gumte, who emphasized the company’s enduring commitment to creating sustainable impact in Ugandan communities.
“As Kansai Plascon, we believe that colour has the power to uplift lives and restore dignity. It’s more than just paint — it’s a symbol of hope and transformation. Giving back to the community is a foundational value for us, and being here today and contributing to a centre that plays such a critical role in protecting vulnerable children, is a proud and humbling moment for all of us at Plascon,” said Mr. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director, Kansai Plascon Uganda.
The donation will support the renovation and painting of key areas within the Naguru Reception Centre. This will create a more welcoming and dignified environment for the children and staff.
“This donation comes at a time when our facilities are in dire need of refurbishment. We are extremely grateful to Kansai Plascon for responding to our call. The improved environment will not only boost the morale of the children but also support their psychological healing and reintegration,” said Ms. Nyamahunge Esther, Probation and Welfare Officer at the centre.
“One of our long-standing goals as the Rotary Club of Kololo is to support institutions that serve the most vulnerable in society. Naguru Reception Centre has always held a special place in our hearts and so this partnership with Kansai Plascon demonstrates what is possible when purpose-driven organisations come together to make a tangible difference,” said Mr. Charles Turyamureeba, Co-founder of the Rotary Club of Kololo.
After the handover and inspection of the centre’s facilities, the Kansai Plascon team proceeded to pay a courtesy visit to the Interpol Headquarters in Kampala, where they were received by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Joseph Obwona, Director of Interpol. During the visit, Mr. Gumte and his team inspected ongoing and completed painting work at the Interpol offices, carried out using Plascon products.
“We are proud to continue our collaborations with key government institutions such as the Uganda Police Force. Ensuring that their working environments are both functional and inspiring is part of our broader commitment to national development,” added Mr. Gumte.
This dual engagement marks a continuation of Kansai Plascon’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, which focuses on education, health, community development, and institutional support.
