A really tough day in Kampala – a man with a machete attacked Ggaba Early Childhood Day Care Center today. Four kids, one girl and three boys, lost their lives.

The attacker, 34-year-old Christopher Okello, came in pretending to be a parent.

He’s now at Kabalagala Police Station, and police are trying to figure out why he did it. Rachel Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police says they’re supporting the families and looking for justice.

“This is just so senseless,” she said. “We’re doing everything to help and make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

Kampala, a bustling city of over 4.5 million people, is no stranger to crime, but attacks of this nature are rare. The incident has sparked concerns about security in schools and the need for vigilance.

The city’s hurting, and people are talking about making schools safer.
