Mao’s Speakership Bid Linked to Gays, Western Imperialists

Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao’s speakership bid continues to slip into a bottomless pit after credible sources revealed that his biggest funders are gay imperialists who have been orchestrating clandestine plots to impose the ‘pink agenda’ on Ugandan communities.

Recently, Mao, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and MP-elect for Laroo-Pece Division, declared his intention to unseat the incumbent Speaker, Anita Among, who is favoured to bounce back as Speaker of the 12th Parliament.

Impeccable sources aver that Mao’s speakership ambition was born in the early 2022, soon after DP entered into a political marriage with NRM, subsequently leading to his ministerial appointment on 21st July 2022, a day after the pact was signed.

After the ministerial appointment, Mao is said to have immediately established contacts with the western powers, especially the United States (U.S) and the United Kingdom (U.K), who mapped him as a potential contact with whom they could easily penetrate their agenda to promote inclusive gay rights.

“Mao was easily influenced by the Western powers because in 2003, he was a fellow at the Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program at Yale University. This program majorly promotes cultural diversity and has been instrumental in promoting gay rights,” a source said.

Apparently, the Mao-Western partnership was that Mao would use his proximity to power and ministerial position to draft and spearhead laws and policies that would promote the distasteful Western cultures and values. In return, the western imperialists would fund him through his brother, Nicholas Opiyo’s Chapter Four Uganda NGO.

Chapter Four Uganda is a renowned NGO that protects and promotes gay rights under the guise of protecting fundamental rights and freedoms. The NGO has been receiving funds from international communities to indulge into subversive activities.

It is not a surprise that early this year, government suspended its operations and several other civil society organizations, citing allegations of activities prejudicial to national security.

A recent report revealed that aid donors, including the U.S and U.K gave at least $40 million since 2014 to organizations that advocated against LGBTQ+ rights in Uganda. Among the beneficiaries are Chapter Four Uganda.

According to the partnership, Mao, being the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, was tasked by the UK organisations to frustrate all efforts towards the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which criminalised same sex. He was to use his position to advise the president and cabinet against the bill.

Sources say that Mao indeed attempted to fight the Anti-Homosexuality Bill and apparently expressed his reservations to the Attorney General. But his opinion was thrown out when it was brought before the cabinet.

No wonder, when the bill was finally passed by Parliament on 02nd May 2023, Mao was not in the House for such a critical and historic piece of legislation, and the MPs only relied on the legal advice of the Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka and his deputy, Jackson Kafuuzi.

“It is a shame that a whole Minister of Justice was not in the House when Parliament should a bill that protects the African values and families. Mao was not among the over 350 MPs who were present that day. It is very disturbing,” an MP who preferred anonymity said.

The aftermath of the enactment of the anti-gay law in Uganda led to the imposition of sanctions against Speaker Anita Among and other vocal MPs, including Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, the mover of the bill. It is said that Mao personally influenced the sanctions against Speaker Among and held classified talks with top UK ministers on the same.

The move was to use the sanctions to discredit her image and reputation at the national and international levels. Mao would then use that storm to contest for a parliamentary seat with the aim of ascending to the speakership seat. This explains why he quietly picked nomination forms for the parliamentary seat, having initially denied the rumours, with many believing that he would again give it a shot for the presidency.

Indeed, in the January elections, Mao beat the incumbent, Fr. Charles Onen, to claim the Laroo-Pece Division seat and is now eyeing the speakership seat with full support from the Western gay organisations who want him to ascend to the top seat and overturn what they term as the repressive anti-gay law.
