MelBet Uganda has taken on the sponsorship of StarTimes Uganda Premier League club Kyetume FC in a multimillion deal to see the Mukono side facilitated throughout of the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season that set to commence on the 3rd December 2020.
Kyetume football club finished 11th with 30 points from 25 games last season after the league ended prematurely due to the coronavirus crisis that forced a halt on all football activities in Uganda.
Having faced some downturns during the season and now the COVID crisis, the club will benefit from MelBet’s noble gesture of supporting Uganda Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
MelBet will support Kyetume FC on the acquisition of the season’s match and training kits, Welfare of players and talent development among other operational expenses.
The Partnership has been defined as a marriage that will see the two parties work together for the long term on an undisclosed amount inclusive of a revenue share.
The sponsorship means the Kyetume shirt has to bear Melbet name.

Addressing journalists at the launch held at MelBet Uganda offices in Nakawa, Kampala, Yasin Asiimwe, Head of Operations at Melbet Uganda revealed that it’s not by mistake that that Melbet Uganda is partnering with Kyetume FC.
“It’s not a mistake for MelBet Uganda to partner with Kyetume FC. We as a company reached a decision to partner with Kyetume FC after observing their astounding performance and reaching a conclusion that this is a very ambitious and organized team with a goal to top the Uganda Premier League.
This is beyond sponsorship but rather marriage between us and kyetume
There is no doubt that Kyetume will be the Premier league winners this season.”
Asiimwe added that, “We decided that since Kyetume FC is a team with a very promising future, we should grow with them, through supporting the Club, hence this partnership, which we have dubbed a ‘marriage’, which has come with a multimillion dowry package in form of sponsorship.”
While speaking at the event, Rauben Mubiru,President of Kyetume FC backed up by,Jackson Mayanja, the team’s Technical Director and soccer legend Jackson Mayanja, appreciated MelBet Uganda for the partnership.
“I thank God for this great opportunity, because we are highly privileged to be in this partnership with MelBet Uganda. This has come to happen after a long period of discussion and negotiation.

As you are all aware, Football is very expensive and it only takes well established companies to foster it and we hope this partnership will see us through.”
Mubiru recounts how Kyetume FC started in 1970 and having being sponsored by the abattoir, locally known as Lufula,hence we got our nickname; ‘The Slaughters.’
However, Mubiru noted that, “over the years we have evolved into a formidable soccer team that came into the Uganda Premier League and last year our target was to come to the league and now,it’s a totaly different story because we are here to win and we are surely going to do it.”
He also revealed that Kyetume FC has since signed an agreement with Buganda Kingdom for a 15-year-lease of Nakisunga Saza grounds, which they are currently refurbishing such that they can use the stadium as their home grounds.
Kyetume CEO said,”in football we need sponsors like MelbetUG and we do appreciate it soo much.
We have managed to win many games over the past years and we are successful in football and I want to assure you our dear sponsors that you have put your resources to the right channel,we pledge to do our very best.”
Through out the sponsorship,Kyetume will get Melbet Uganda’s revenue shares of upto 30percent.
Kampala Sqoop also understands that Melbet will be giving the club USD 30,000 to facilitate the building of the stadium.
The company also plans to open betting shops all allover the country.
