Uganda Police have released an official statement detailing some of their findings on the fatal road accident that happened in Bukedea last night, 15th14th June 2022 at around a half last 9pm.
Police have revealed that the accident involved motor vehicle registration No. UAR 293M, a ISUZU bus belonging to Wanagon coaches and motor vehicle reg No. UAH 781Z Nissan belonging to GATEWAY bus service.

The accident happened at Kachumbala village along Mbale Soroti highway in Bukedea district. The GATEWAY bus was travelling from Soroti side, while the Wanagon bus was from Mbale side.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, the PRO, Traffic and Road Safety has confirmed that two male adults died on spot while another female adult died on her way to kumi orthopedic center.
“A total of 35 victims of which 20 are male adults, ten female adults, four male juveniles, and one female juvenile were rushed to Mbale referral hospital and kumi orthopedic center, x Nampiima revealed.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of the accident was by the Gateway Bus driver that tried to overtake in the corner and failed to keep his near side hence knocking the on coming bus head on,” she added.
The police spokesperson said that the hunt for the driver of the gateway bus, who is currently on the run is on, while the Wanagon bus driver was rushed to Mbale Referral Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, more Police inquiries are ongoing and more information will hopefully be shared in due course.
