Whoever doesn’t agree with the saying that home is home or rather blood is thicker than water is a big joke.
One can also concur with the saying that it takes one to get support from his own, be it home people or friends among others.
Wondering why all the grammar? Well, it is all about the recently concluded Ray G Kampala show. To start with, Ray G filled Kampala based Imperiale Royale Hotel like no other show that ever happened at this hotel.
Showing up on stage at 10pm past some minutes, the singer was shocked to see full house when the lights finally went on, giving him green light to either start off with his performance or first greet his fans. Like any other live show, he wasted no minute but rushed straight to match the vocals with the band that had already set the ball rolling, only waiting for him to accept it on his court.
The show sponsored by Comedy Store and Silk Events, wasn’t short of his best melodic performance of his Kinyaankole hits; Eizooba,Ringaaniza, Live Love and Nobanza among others, of course spiced by his mellifluous voice that sent fans in the wild as they sang along to every bit of the lyrics, for luck of better words, the crowd knew his lyrical flow as if they featured on them, could they have memorised them before coming for the show? One would wonder.
There was a real manifestation of the true meaning of solidarity in place and in case the word had long lost its meaning, it was recalled to meaning at the Ray G Kampala concert that saw his fellow Banyankole come support him to the fullest.

Some of the revellers who spoke to Kampala Sqoop revealed that they had to travel all the way from Mbarara and others from Ntugamo and Bushenyi just to come attend the show and would later on travel back after the band fed away. “This means a lot to me seeing you here in this big numbers,” said Ray G while he did justice to his timeless hits including; among others.
Kampala Sqoop can however reliably inform that the biggest number that turned up for the show was majorly people from western Uganda but leaving in Kampala which sheds more light to the real meaning of solidarity, love and support to your own.
Comic MC Mariachi in one of his lines said it was indeed absolute love showcased at the Ray G Kampala concert. Mariachi would go on and on heaping praises on the ‘Banyankole’ for always supporting other artists from different parts of the country who have always performed at Agip Motel in Mbarara.
“Thank you Banyankole for your good hearts, for sure you have always supported all artists who have had shows in Mbarara, I have never seen any flopped show in Mbarara as you have always made sure Agip Motel is full beyond capacity. That’s the kind of support this industry needs.”
Later on, there were stage appearances from Zex Bilangilangi,Aziz Azion who did not disappoint the crowds and later on paved way for Ray G for his second appearance before he was joined by Spice Diana, performing their hit song Omusheshe and other Spice tunes. The night could not end without some worship done to the Almighty as Ray G was joined on stage by Levixone and they went on and on praising the name of the Lord with their ‘Yoya’song .
The sound, lighting, drums, guitars, keyboard, Saxophones all were on point.
All that said, Ray G live in Kampala has outlived indoor shows, he will surely have to do a concert at Cricket Oval, Uganda Museum or any other bigger venue if he has to organise another.
