Police in Bukedea have in custody a 40-year-old man for allegdly raping his 90-year-old mother to death.
The suspect has been identified as Simon Oduut, commonly known as Nangiro, a resident of Ocuma Parish, Bukedea Sub County in Bukedea district. The deceased was also identified as Lucy Ilukol.
John Kokas Etiang, the area LCI said that Oduut was under influence of alcohol. However, locals say that this is not the first time he has done this to his mother.
Etiang said that the first time Ilukol reported the same case, Oduut denied but it was on Friday night when the old woman made an alarm till the neighbors rushed to rescue.
However, the old woman succumbed to serious injuries sustained during the scuffle. She was buried on Wednesday at her home in Ocuuma.
Furthermore, the residents asked the police to hand over Oduut to the ‘public court’ for the law to be ‘interpreted with fairness’. They say that Oduut has brought shame to their community.
Ali Kakooza the o/c station Bukedea central police state confirmed the incident saying that Oduut is currently being detained at Bukedea Central Police station.
