Reality TV has always been alien and something television enthusiasts watched only on international TV. Putting our personal lives out there for all to see is not a notion Ugandans have for a long time fully embraced. This, however, is subject to re-examination with Judithiana among a number of rising stars taking the reality TV entertainment scene by the horns.

Judithiana Namazzi Ndugwa, also known as Judithiana is a media personality and beautician. She started her career in the entertainment industry with radio shows as a presenter and currently has two reality TV shows that are darlings to Ugandans

TV Entertainment in Uganda has grown and is ripe with content of diverse genres ranging from general entertainment, musicals like the recently launched Junior’s Drama Club on Pearl Magic Prime, wedding shows, and family reality shows to now dating shows. All these demonstrate the kind of talent Uganda has and what’s more to come.

Of these is a film set all-rounder and director Namazzi who is playing a huge role in changing the reality TV scene by adding a little spice to the norm.

Judithiana produces two local reality TV shows, both of which bring out the reality of who we are as Ugandans, in our true light and as a source of Raw-thentic entertainment. These shows; Take Me Back and Date My Family air on Pearl Magic Prime on DStv and GOtv.

During a sit down with Home of Our Stars show Host, Flavia Tumusiime, Judithiana commented on the rich talent and content that can be mined from the lives we lead every day, the love, laughter, excitement, the crying, betrayal, and pain.

“As Ugandans we were not taking advantage of the leaps and bounds that we could grow in on reality TV and we can only give a blind eye for so long. We love all drama and it just took us showing Ugandans the reality of who we are for the rest to acknowledge and watch the shows,” she stated.

When asked about how the entertainment industry has progressed over the years to make room for more reality shows, Judithiana says it took Ugandans embracing their reality.

“If you did TV in Uganda back then, it was important to sound like you went to school, were elite and had a good education,” Judithiana said, adding that, “I faced rejection at the idea of voicing the Date My Family show because of how Ugandans view the TV scene. However, when it came to M-Net, I was given a green light to start voicing the show because they wanted the show to be relatable, and with a touch of Ugandan-ness even in the voice.”

Judithiana presents Jechili, a music show on Pearl Magic, and is a producer for Take Me Back and Date My family where she is also the Voice-over artist.

Home of Our Stars is a series that gives the audience a sneak peek into the lives of some of the talent we see in the drama series that air on on Pearl Magic, Pearl Magic Prime, and Pearl Magic Loko. It airs every Wednesday on the DSTV YouTube channel.
