Holi Festival—also known as the “Festival of Colors”—is an annual vibrant Hindu celebration that honors the triumph of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and the divine love between the gods Radha and Krishna. The festival is marked by revelers playing with colored powders and water.
Celebrated by Indian communities worldwide, the event in Uganda was organized by the Rajasthani Association, in collaboration with the Indian High Commission in Uganda, and powered by Plascon Uganda. The festivities took place at KCCA Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala.
Predominantly attended by Indians living in Kampala and nearby areas, the celebration saw crowds drenched in clouds of colored powder, dancing to festive music, exchanging food and drinks, and smearing each other with vibrant colors of red, green, blue, and pink, all while being sprayed with water.
The excitement later reached a new level when headlining artiste Jasleen Matharu from India took the stage shortly after 3 PM. The singer and actress captivated the crowd with performances of her popular songs, prompting cheers and applause. She later introduced another headliner, Shivam Sharma, who also delivered a high-energy set that kept the crowd buzzing with excitement.

In addition to the music and dancing, the event featured a raffle draw, with lucky winners receiving prizes from sponsoring companies such as Plascon Uganda, Sky World, Saachi, and Geepas. Among the prizes were blenders, electric kettles, rice cookers, microwaves, TV screens, water dispensers, and even return air tickets to India.
Santosh Gumte, Managing Director of Plascon Uganda, expressed his pride in the company’s involvement, noting, “As plascon we keep on participating in this basically as a way to create harmony and bringing people together, seeing joy on their face enjoying and that”
Food and drinks, an integral part of the festival, were provided by various vendors, offering a variety of Indian cuisines and beverages for all to enjoy
