In a night defined by celebration, ambition, and reflection, Journey to the Boardroom Founder Janet Bugembe delivered an emotional tribute to MultiChoice Uganda for their instrumental support in empowering the next generation of corporate leaders.
And ohhh! Yes, we can can say Corporate philanthropy met purpose on the grand stage of the Journey to the Boardroom 2025 Cohort II graduation, where Bugembe, delivered an emotional and unapologetically bold tribute to the man she calls the “pillar behind the journey”—Mr. Hassan Saleh, Managing Director of MultiChoice Uganda.
In a moment that moved the room, Bugembe went beyond general appreciation and revealed the full extent of MultiChoice Uganda’s commitment—not just funding, but providing meals, materials, mentorship, and the very foundation that allowed the program to thrive.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Journey to the Boardroom Cohort II, held in Kampala, Bugembe did not mince her words as she credited MultiChoice Uganda and its Managing Director, Hassan Saleh, for making the initiative possible.
“If it wasn’t for Mr. Hassan Saleh, we wouldn’t have been able to have the Journey to the Boardroom,” Bugembe declared, drawing applause from a crowd of business leaders, mentors, and graduates.
“Today, we raise a generation of leaders ready to bring wisdom, integrity, and impact into boardrooms across Africa and beyond.”
Bugembe further acknowledged the resilience of Cohort II participants, highlighting how they pushed through sleepless nights and overcame personal and professional challenges to reach this milestone. But she made it clear that behind their success stood a partner who believed in their potential—MultiChoice Uganda.
While many corporate sponsors stop at the cheque, MultiChoice Uganda went a step further—ensuring that participants of Cohort II had their basic needs met, including food, logistical support, and critical resources that allowed them to focus fully on personal and professional development.
Bugembe added, “We had sleepless nights,” Bugembe noted, “but we never went hungry. Because someone believed we were worth feeding. Worth investing in. That someone was MultiChoice Uganda.”
The graduation ceremony, brought together leaders from across Uganda’s top institutions—MTN Uganda, PostBank, and other major players—but the loudest applause consistently circled back to MultiChoice Uganda’s role in shaping future leaders.
Beyond the branding and beyond the stage lights, Hassan Saleh’s contribution stood as a masterclass in meaningful corporate citizenship. His belief in the vision of Journey to the Boardroom and his tangible support—often quietly rendered behind the scenes—meant the difference between a good program and a transformative one.
Bugembe’s tribute wasn’t just a thank-you; it was a call to the business community to follow MultiChoice Uganda’s example—invest not only in ideas, but in people; not only in potential, but in the process.
As the 2025 Cohort II graduates begin their leadership journeys, their first taste of corporate culture has already been modeled—by a company that didn’t just show up, but showed what it means to stand up for the next generation.
Through its investment and commitment to leadership development, MultiChoice Uganda has helped bridge the gap between ambition and access, enabling young professionals to receive top-tier mentorship, boardroom exposure, and executive-level training.
Bugembe’s heartfelt remarks not only underscored the impact of corporate partnerships in nurturing future leaders but also positioned MultiChoice Uganda as a standout champion of youth empowerment and business leadership in Africa.
As the graduates of the 2025 Cohort step into new leadership roles, their journey remains a testament to what is possible when visionary initiatives meet purposeful corporate backing.
