Rains to Withdraw by Early November-UNMA Report

Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA ) has said that the current rains being experienced are expected to withdraw early November of late October.

According to Godfrey  Mujuni, the Data Manager at UNMA, the current weather focus shows that there will be two good months with enough rainfall, that is; September and October.

‘’We expect good rainfall for the month of September and also the month of October. However, for the Month of November  December, we expect it to be mostly dry,’’ said Mujuni.

Mujuni added that Farmers should plant crops that will mature in the next two months when there is still enough rainfall

Rains are normally expected to withdraw in late November or early December but they are withdrawing early this year according to weather focus from UNMA

Mr. Mujuni also appealed to Farmers to harvest this rain water so that they can be able to use it for irrigation during the dry months of November and December.

He also advised Urban authorities in Cities to Open up drainage Channels to prevent flooding in the urban centers.

Lilian Nkawenge, the Principal Public Relation Officer at UNMA also told Journalists in Gulu that they have worked with Makerere University to develop a Mobile Application for weather Information.

Mrs. Nkawenge said the App works in all phones and any one can get weather information by dialing *255*85#  and they follow the instructions.

She added that they will be able to get instant weather focus for a particular region of their interest like for daily, monthly and seasonal

Uganda Normally have three seasons in year; namely: March, April and May, 2nd season being,  June July, August, and 3rd season, September, October, November and December
