Legendary Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone has voiced his disappointment with the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), accusing the leadership of neglect during a difficult period in his life.
Upon his return from the United States on Saturday, Chameleone said he expected support or at least a gesture of solidarity from the federation, especially as one of its founding members. However, no representative from the UNMF showed up to welcome him or offer assistance.
“The federation is supposed to help musicians through their hardships. But during my time of need, no one from the UNMF reached out or showed support,” Chameleone lamented.
He underscored the importance of unity and empathy among artists, particularly within organizations created to champion their welfare and professional interests.
Chameleone’s remarks have since stirred debate among fans and industry stakeholders, raising questions about the relevance and responsiveness of the current UNMF leadership.
