The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a shortlist of 12 candidates for the executive director position at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
A recently leaked list on social media had included 44 candidates such as corporate lawyer Robert Kabushenga and former NSSF managing director Richard Byarugaba among the contenders, as well as acting ED Frank Rusa.
However, Robert Kabushenga, Richard Byarugaba and Frank Rusa are missing on the final shortlist of 12 published by the Public Service Commission.
Mr Kabushenga on Wednesday said he had been deemed underqualified because he does not hold a Masters Degree.
The selected individuals are set to undergo competence and aptitude assessments, with the date and venue of the exams to be communicated at a later stage.
The shortlist includes candidates from diverse professional backgrounds, demonstrating a highly competitive field for the leadership role within one of Uganda’s most critical public institutions.
The position of Deputy Executive Director at KCCA is considered pivotal in driving the city’s development agenda, overseeing essential services, and ensuring efficient governance.
Among the shortlisted candidates are Adwek Makmot Jimmy, Ajer Basil, and Asubo Sydney, all of whom bring varied expertise to the table.
Asubo also applied for the position of KCCA ED and was shortlisted for the position.
Basil serves as a Director at Ministry of Tourism and previously held the role of Acting Executive Director, Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).
Adwek Makmot served as a regional manager at Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
Other notable contenders include Irumba Richard, Karuhanga Bernadette Nambi, and Kawesi Daniel Christopher.
The list reflects a balanced mix of experience and gender diversity, with candidates such as Mudondo Harriet, the former KCCA director of Gender, Community Services and Production also featured.
This recruitment process is seen as a step toward strengthening leadership at KCCA amid a public call to enhance service delivery and urban management.
