At Kisukuma village in Kigorobya sub-county in Hoima district, Ismael Bahemurwaki, the presiding officer, said that by 9:50am, elections materials were nowhere to be seen.

John Bosco Busobozi, the parish supervisor for Kisukuma, says the village has no register but the presiding officer and the LC1 chairman will work together to ensure all registered voters are allowed to vote.”

“The situation is still calm and people have begun arriving for voting. State minister for public service David Karubanga is expected to vote from this polling station,” adds Kasooha as quoted by the New Vision.

Elsewhere, security deployment has been beefed up in Ssembabule district, where  acts of violence, voter intimidation and hooliganism marred the polls, causing the suspension of elections in Mawogola North and West, reports New Vision.

At Kantungu Mothers Union polling station in Bushenyi Municipality electoral officials are updating the register,however there are no village NRM leaders to verify those being added.

 

Voters in Masuulita, Wakiso District are accusing either camps of the contestants for ferrying people from different areas like Kampala to cast their ballot in their area.

COVID-19 SOPs Not followed in all Polling stations!

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) are not being observed at almost all polling stations in Uganda. There is no social distancing and many with face masks are not wearing them properly. Water for washing hands is also not there.

Fear of Victimization Turns Away Voters in Bukedea

In Nyakoi Village in Kachumbala Sub County, more than three quarters of the registered voters failed to turn to vote this morning. Some of the voters at the polling station said they fear for the aftermath of the elections since lining up exposes one’s choice.
