Nyege Nyege Festival Rescheduled For December

Due to rising cases of COVID in Uganda, Nyege Nyege Festival has postponed its September plans to December 3-6, 2020.

With over 400 participating artists from across the Continent as well as afrocentric collectives from around the world, the festival has opted to take a few extra months to perfect this first hybrid edition.

The East African Music Conference hosted by MIDEM and Nyege Nyege will nevertheless take place this week on September 3rd and 4th through a series of showcases of East African musicians and panels bringing together top East African industry players from all sectors to share insights into the East African music market.  Nyege Nyege and Midem aim to foster further professionalization of the EA market, encourage high level meetings and generate new opportunities for the industry as a whole.

As all efforts are made to continue to create opportunities for the East African music sector critically affected by the pandemic. The landmark event titled “Spotlight on East Africa” will host panel discussions exploring the East African music market, business meetings, as well as an in depth conversation between Camille Storm and DJ Kampire, and 14 showcases by some of East Africa’s most promising talents, featuring lots of performances.
