OKTOBERFEST: Legendary Reggae Maestro Maddox Sematimba to headline 5th Edition of the event

As Ugandans get used to partying again, following 2 years hiatus caused by COVID-19, here comes another life enriching event-Oktoberfest.

According to the organizers, the 5th edition,sponsored by Nile Breweries Limited under its flagship beer, Nile Special, will be headlined by Legendary Raggea singer Maddox Sematimba who is expected to deliver his A’game though out the performances.

Unlike the other editions, this year’s festival will be happening at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo,overlooking the lake.

While addressing the media at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Thursday September 1, 2022, Mr. John Paul Ssemakula, Nile Breweries Connections Manager John Paul Ssemakula said Nile Special is about recognizing and celebrating all that makes Ugandans unique.

Nile Special is about celebrating among others our food, hospitality, people and above all, Culture which makes us unique in the world.”

Ssemakula added that,” Nile Special, which has for long been known as the true reward from the source,having recognized and scooped over 21 Gold Medals in the Mondes Selection Awards over the years, is excited to share the Unmatched in Gold beer with the Germans and other beer lovers in the world.”

Oktoberfest, is the world’s largest beer and food festival held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany and runs from late September to the first weekend in October.

It’s usually celebrated between September, 16 and October 3 which is the German day of Unity.

This year’s Oktoberfest will be running under the theme, “recognizing the friendship and strong, cultural and economic partnerships between Germany and Uganda and celebrating this unique relationship through food, drink and the arts.”

According to the My Food Network, the brains behind the festival, the German Ambassador to Uganda Matthias Schauer will be the guest of honor and will preside over ceremonial aspects of the event.

Chimpreports understands that there will also be performances from Myko Ouma, Mudra and top DJs including Sir Aludah and The Almost Famous DJs.

The Oktoberfest will also be featuring other activities including costume competitions, traditional games like arm wrestling, eating challenges, beer straw challenge, beer pong, tug of war and competitions amongst food and drinks vendors.

A team of judges guided by the Uganda German Cultural Society will judge the costumes worn by revelers at the event and a grand prize of two return air tickets from Brussels Airlines to any destination in Europe will be won.
