One dead, eight nursing serious injuries as taxi overturns in Bukedea
One person has been confirmed dead while eight others are nursing life threatening injuries after a taxi overturned in Bukedea.
The incident happened on Thursday morning in Aloet trading centre along Mbale-Soroti highway.
The driver reportedly lost control when the front tyre burst and the speeding vehicle overturned for three times.
According to the eye witnesses the taxi Reg No UBH968/S was on an aeroplane speed.
The deceased has however been identified as Nasur Muyalo Agisu who operates business in Soroti town.
The OC station Bukedea Central Police station, Ali Kakooza confirmed the incident and said the other eight were rushed to Bukedea health center IV for treatment and the deceased was taken to Mbale main hospital for postmortem.
Kakooza added that the driver took off but police pounded the taxi to help them in their investigations.
He said speeding drivers will be charged since they drive recklessly without bothering the lives of people.
The the taxi is currently at Bukedea police barracks.
