A few days to the recently concluded 2024 edition of the 4-day Nyege Nyege Festival, some local artistes were added on to the official lineup of headlining artistes and among them is Firebase’s Dancehall artiste Zex Bilangilangi.
This came like yet another big stage he had to prepare for and that whole week before the fest, he was busy rehearsing ahead of his performance on day 2 (Friday).

After performances by artistes like Oliva (Colombia) Spyda MC alongside Nilotika Ensemble, Gezan (Japan), Cali P (Jamaica) and Recho Ray, Zex who had earlier on in the day, done sound check, took on to the stage only a few minutes after 2 AM.
Alongside a drummer, the self-proclaimed Ghetto Prime Minister did an electrifying semi-live performance that set the waiting crowd in a frenzy doing songs like “Parte Yani”, “Nalinda”, “2019”, “Magazine”, “Ratata” and “Number Emu” among others.
He didn’t just perform but also had the energy and vibe which he always carries with him on stage. One could say he was ready for this, and he gave it his best with the help of the uncontrollably excited crowd that cheered him on and sung along to some of songs from one line of the lyrics to the other.
The festival had other artistes who had captivating performances but Zex’s must be one still a talk on attendees’ lips.

Meanwhile, this wasn’t the first time Zex was performing at this Festival. In 2022, he delivered a performance to remember, though not on the main stage but on a different Stage.
