Uganda’s youngest presidential candidate, John Katumba surprised Bukedea town dwellers on Thursday when he walked along the main street and had lunch at one of the local restaurants in town.
The 24-year-old Katumba is in Bukedea to canvas support for his presidential bid.
Residents say they were shocked by the rare view of the presidential hopeful. They explained that he is down to earth man who likes discussions.
Others couldn’t recognize Katumba as a presidential candidate not until they heard the youths chanting our president, saw the armed police guards that’s when they realized it’s a presidential candidate. Katumba was dressed in a white shirt and navy blue khaki jeans.
Katumba, who was scheduled to campaign in Bukedea district on Thursday said that he won’t campaign again until fellow presidential aspirants Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and FDC’s Amuriat Patrick Oboi are released from detention.
Speaking to journalists in Bukedea, Katumba urged Ugandans to stop violence and focus on uprooting the dictator through the ballot.
