Police Monday 24 closed its headquarters based in Naguru, Kampala amidst the raising threat of yet another phase of Covid19 spread in the country.
The security installation that houses offices of the top most commanders of the law enforcement body were closed to normal business to enable it undergo sanitization and fumigation against the novel virus since it recieves a number of clients on a daily basis.
This development was revealed by spokesperson Fred Enanga at the Uganda media center in Kampala during the weekly security briefing.
The closure comes high on the heels following the weekend annoucement by Police chief political commissar AIGP Asan Kasingye that he tested positive for corona virus.

“The duration under which our headquarters is closed is three days. That is when the process of decontamination, fumigation and testing of personel shall have been concluded,” said Enanga.

He revealed that the process of testing officers who work from the headquarters had already started.
Another security installation that is also out of bounds is the National CCTV command center which is adjacent to the headquarters.
It’s staff will also undergo a mandatory screening.
Enanga said that the security offices have been closed due to the increasing threat of Covid19 infections and deaths in Kampala Metropolitan areas.
The police spokesperson however said that there is a possibility of having all officers countrywide to get tested for Covid19.
Meanwhile, the ministry of health has been randomly testing officers in various parts of the country.
