There was no Security Breach, no attacks, Accidents at Nyege Nyege Festival 2023 Edtion: The Event Went as Planned- Security

The heavy deployment at the event before, during and after was a safety measure agreed jointly by Uganda Police force, UPDF and other security agencies to ensure the speculated attacks from terror group ADF, were not left to any chance.

Those who attended the 2023 edition of Nyege Nyege enjoyed a feast of experiences and we are very to inform that there were no bombings, or any security attacks of any kind during the festival.

According to Police officials on ground, the heavy deployment at the event before, during and after was a safety measure agreed jointly by Uganda Police force, UPDF and other security agencies to ensure the speculated attacks from terror group ADF, were not left to any chance.

SCP Enanga Fred, Police Spokesperson  issued a statement Monday morning  informing the public and congratulating the security officers, revelers and event organizers Talent Africa and sponsors Smirnoff and Uganda Waragi for the great job done as the event ended peacefully.

“We wish to inform the public that both the Nyege Nyege festival and the Royal Dinner, that took place in Busoga Region, ended peacefully. As a result, we want to thank all fans and well-wishers, who took the courage to attend. The revelers and fans were vigilant. Only a few minor incidents occurred. We want to thank all visitors who travelled from different parts of the county, those from the region and across the world.”

Enanga also revealed that there were only 42 cases reported as compared to very many cases reported in the previous episodes of the same event but of of which, murder or attempted murder wasn’t part of the cases which were registered.

“During the period, a total of 42 cases were registered, which led to the arrest of 45 suspects, out of whom 10 were released on police bond and the remaining 35 , are to be arraigned in the courts of law. The cases include; theft of mobile phones (20), impersonation (03), fire outbreak (05), being in possession of Marijuana (03), stealing motor vehicles (01) forgery of tickets (12).”

On the entertainment front, the lineup featured a strong combination of artists, DJs and MCs. These included 1der JR, Mudra, DJ Alza, Melvyn DJ, DJ Ali Breezy, DJ Bugy, and more with support from MCs like Saint Trevor, MC Alan King among others all happening at the Uganda Waragi tent, delivering unwavering fun and enjoyment all throughout the 4day-day event.
