As the ministry of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries is constructing more valley dams to back up on production, the districts of Bukedea and Kumi have clashed over the ownership of Atuta valley dam in Malera sub county.

The valley dam which borders Kumi reflects its big shape in Bukedea and was constructed before Bukedea was curbed out of Kumi district.

Patrick Okion Okwi, the chairperson LCIII Malera sub county says the dam was constructed when Bukedea was under kumi but when Bukedea was curbed out, the dam was left in Bukedea side but since it borders the two districts, Kumi wants to grab it out of their hands.

Stephen Opolot the district vice chairperson Kumi said the authorities from the two districts have allowed every person to use but since the dam is on the border, the challenge is maintaining.

However, Stephen Edima the deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bukedea urged the Malera residents to leave the district table dialogue with Kumi leaders as to prove on the right owners of the wetland.
