National Unity Platform (NUP) chairman Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has sacked former DP stalwart Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku from his position as Vice Chairperson of the electoral management committee.
Mukaaku’s sacking was confirmed by Bobi Wine during a press conference at the party offices in Kamwokya on Tuesday.
According to our sources, former presidential candidate Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku is accused of promoting DP candidates in NUP which is against party constitution rules that emphasizes unity and equality of all members.
Bobi however maintained Mercy Walukamba as the chairperson of the committee. Walukamba is a renowned NRM cadre who defected to People Power in October 2018.
Also replaced in the reshuffle include; John Mary Ssebuufu and Jeremiah Keeya Mwanje who were replaced by Bobi Wine’s producer Tony Bikumbi alias Tony Houls and a one Rahma Juma.
While there was no reason fronted for the sacking of Mukaaku, Nile Post understands that the latter has been sacked from NUP EC Job for allegedly presenting interests of DP rather than those of NUP.
“He remains an acting member in DP and continues to preach the DP message instead of NUP. He was also rallying a DP block team in NUP,” a source intimated to Nile Post.
Mukaku was on trouble last week after youth attached to NUP attacked him and snatched a red beret off his head in Mutundwe, Kabawo zone.
The youth accused Mukaku of supporting a DP candidate in the youth council elections instead of Sharif Gitta, NUP candidate.
These accused Mukaku of arriving at the polling station in People Power colors and rooting for a DP candidate. The NUP candidate was trounced in that election.
In his defence, Mukaaku counter-accused the youth claiming they subscribe to the National Resistance Movement but were only using NUP to win the election.
