The National Resistance Movement Electoral Commission led by Dr. Tanga Odoi has dismissed Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament hopeful, MS Akol Sophie Malinga on grounds that, the names of Akol Sophie Malinga do not match the names on the requisite academic documents she presented for nomination.
Mr. Okodel Umar earlier petitioned the party electoral commission to review Sophie’s academic credentials and upon investigations, the party found a mismatch in her credentials.

In a letter dated 18th August, 2020, Tanga urges that Sophie did not furnish evidence to show there was compliance with the law when she adopted the said names at the time of registration for the National ID Card in 2014 as she stated before the Commission.
“Pursuant to the complaint and after hearing the parties on 17/8/2020 at our office at Plot 13 Kyadondo Nakasero, the Commission under MM. NRM EC 006/2020, has cancelled your nomination as candidate for District Woman Member of Parliament Bukedea District on grounds that, the names of Akol Sophie Malinga do not match the names on the requisite academic documents you presented for nomination,”
“Further, you did not furnish evidence to show there was compliance with the law when you adopted the said names at the time of registration for the National ID Card in 2014 as you stated before the Commission,” the letter reads in part.
