I paid Bobi Wine to campaign for me – Wadri
Arua Municipality Member of Parliament, Kassiano Wadri has maintained that what he had with Bobi Wine in Arua was business.
Wadri, who recently joined Gen. Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation – ANT said that he paid Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine his requested amount.
“I fully paid Bobi Wine to campaign for me in the Arua byelections. When we were arrested, we shared a lot in the cell and Hon. Gerald was the one recording these minutes. We hoped to have joined am existing opposition party and unite to get rid of Museveni but Bobi Wine went ahead to do his own things but I have nothing wrong with Bobi Wine,” he said.
Wadri was in 2018 elected the MP Arua Municipality in a by-election following the death of Ibrahim Abiriga.
However, chaos dominated the last day of campaigns leading to the arrest of several members of the opposition.
The arrested individuals, led by Bobi Wine, were accused of obstructing President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade and pelting stones that smashed the windscreen of one of the vehicles in the convoy. The President was in Arua to campaign for Nusura Tiperu, a candidate for the ruling National Resistance Movement- NRM party.
Yasin Kawuma, a driver was shot dead while the arrested individuals were charged with treason.
