The Star Times Uganda Premier league action continued on Saturday 5th December with Express visiting Onduparaka at the Green Light stadium in Arua.
The red eagles were put in the lead by Frank Kalanda in the 11th minute of the game from the spot kick.
With 1-0 into the break, a brilliant display was expected from both clubs in the second half. When the game resumed Onduparaka looked lethal and the effort yielded with an equalizer in the 68th minute from Living Kabon with a screamer.
Express came into this game with high spirits as they are looked at as title contenders this season and also that their head coach Waswa Bossa picked three point from Arua last season with Tooro United. However, one cannot rule out the fact that the Green Light stadium has not been easy for any club to pick points.
However still, since the COVID-19 outbreak, it meant that fans will not be allowed in the stands and yet they were the winning element for Onduparaka at home hence explaining why they struggle to win at home.
In the early minutes of the game, Kalanda missed a clear chance after rounding Onduparaka’s backline which would have put the visitors in the lead as early as the 5th minute.
Despite taking the lead, Express still looked vulnerable at the back and it needed the experience of Uganda international defender Murushid Juuko to deny Onduparaka, as he raced to clear a ball that was rolling into an empty net in the 18th minute.
Enock Walusimbi was shown a red card in the second.
In other matches played today, UPDF Fc beat Busoga United 3-0 to go top of the table ahead of KCCA both with three point as Kyetume and Kitara’s match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile this was the 5th draw of the season’s match day one as all matches played on 4th ended in Stalemates.
URA FC and Mbarara City settled for a 1-1 draw at Kakyeka Stadium, Villa and BUL ended 2-2 and finally Police drew 0-0 with Wakiso Giants.
