SPC Simon Okurut Police Officer attached to Bukedea Central Police Station who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy has today been remanded to Kumi Prisons for two weeks.
Last week Okurut is alleged to have shot and killed Patrick Otimong, a resident of Ajesa village, Akero parish in Bukedea Sub County. Otimong has been a senior two student at Sironko Parents Secondary School.
East Kyog Regional Police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong says SPC Okurut has been remanded to Kumi prisons for two weeks by Grade one Magistrate, saying this is due to murder and capital nature of case which is beyond the Grade one Magistrate Court.
“The court could not hear this case due to lack of jurisdiction, “says Mudong.
Meanwhile Mudong says, the bullet Cartridges that were recovered at the scene have further been submitted by the scene of crime officer to Ballistic experts for analysis.
The circumstances surrounding his death involved the police officers who were on routine implementation of the curfew time operations but met resistance from the errant members of the public prompting the SPC Okurut to discharge live bullets that claimed the life of the victim.
