The Police in Mbarara are investigating circumstances under which a private security guard shot dead a UPDF soldier.
According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi regional Police spokesman says that the incident happened on Monday February 22nd at around 1:30AM in Nyakakoni cell/Division in Mbarara city.
Kasasira adds that it all started when a UPDF personnel now the deceased L/CPL Denes Muhindo attached to 2nd Division barracks in Makenke was first confronted Eldadi Kyakabale a private security guard who was on duty at classic wine factory.
Sources indicate that Muhindo was at the time of the shooting deployed at Birya United Agencies Ltd.
“We have leads that Kyakabale a security guard attached to G and D confronted Muhindo who was coming from a nearby bar before shooting him dead” Kasasira narrated in a statement.
The Police visited the scene of the crime and arrested the suspect and exhibited his killer weapon UG POL 42511105833 with two rounds of ammunitions and one cartilage.
“Investigations are still ongoing to establish the real motive behind this shooting” Kasasira added.
The deceade’s body was by press time lying at Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
