Stella Nyanzi reveals how renowned gays snubbed her request for campaign money

Two months ago, Ugandan activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi reached out to gay American comedian Ellen DeGeneres and British songwriter Sir Elton John seeking financial support for her political campaigns.

In her letter, posted on Facebook, Nyanzi, who is known for rubbing President Yoweri Museveni’s establishment the wrong way, affirmed her support for the LGBTQ community.

“This letter is, therefore, to formally and publicly invite both of you to fund my campaign for political office. My total budget is UGX 1,300,000,000 Uganda Shillings, which is equivalent to $340,000 (Sh1.3 Billion),” Nyanzi wrote on Facebook.

However, her request was not honored prompting her to run to social media again asking for Ugandans to bail her out.

A one Atandu Sunday commented asking updates about the gay donation. Nyanzi immediately replied saying; “The gay donation never happened. However, it was good that I wrote a letter asking for the money. The hateful propagandists stopped accusing me of being heavily funded by gay.”

However, she is in a campaign to raise about Shs1.2 billion for her Kampala Woman MP campaigns.

Nyanzi has participated in several local marches and attended diverse processes that challenged the Anti-Homosexuality bill in Uganda.

She recently also announced that her London-based baby daddy informed her he was gay.
