As Schools re-open Thursday 15 for candidate classes,over 13 Teachers attached to Kyangwali Refugee settlement in Kikuube district have tested positive for COVID-19.
Comfirming the news, Richard Tabaro, the Kikuube Resident District Commissioner (RDC) said the 13 cases are part of 20 teachers whose samples were collected on Friday last week.
Tabaro also revealed that they were locked up in a crisis meeting with Education stakeholders to discuss modalities of reopening schools in Kyangwali Sub County given such news.
The positive cases were taken to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital COVID-19 Treatment unit for further management.
These brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in Kikuube district to 113 in Kikuube in the last two months.
Of the 113, 98 cases were treated and discharged while 1 person died within the settlement area.
