Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC on Thursday kicked off the league with a win against Solito Bright Stars FC. At Kavumba recreational ground.
Brian Aheebwa’s goal gave the Kasasiro boys a lead in the 21st minute before Sam Ssenyonjo netted the winner in the 27th minute and Joseph Akandwanaho pulled back one in the 83rd minute but the hosts failed to level even when they got clear chances in the dying moments of the game.
Mike Mutebi’s boys start the season with focus on the title after finishing second last season behind the Champions Vipers after FUFA declared the winner following the break out of the pandemic but the season had already been played 75% which guaranteed the title to Vipers according to the football Association constitution of Uganda.
Mutebi handed debuts to five of his new signings including Denis Iguma, Ashiraf Mugume, Stefano Mazengo, Brian Aheebwa and Samson Kigozi.
On the other hand, Baker Mbowa who was in charge of his first game in charge of the club handed debuts to Benson Wagima, Simon Kato Ssemayange, Allan Katwe and Jamil Kisitu.
KCCA will host Onduparaka at the Star times stadium in the next league match while Bright Stars will be away to URA in Ndejje.
